The story

The story

The brief

Fernweh plans trips by train and boat for people who would rather not fly. The founders had a working prototype and a long list of features, and needed someone to decide what the first version should be.

What I did

We cut the list to one job: plan a route and keep every ticket in one place. I designed the flows, the itinerary view and a small visual language of route lines that doubles as the brand.

Offline first

Tickets and maps work without signal, because the best part of a train journey is often the part with no coverage.

What changed

Fernweh went from first wireframe to the App Store in five months, and the itinerary screen is still the one people share most.
